BE AWARE!! AVOID!! Egregious and Disgusting!!!

I usually don’t write bad reviews. However, I must share my personal experience for the Lakes at Deerfield Apartments on Military Trail. First, I want to acknowledge how pleasant it was to work with Chantell. She followed up with me, processed my application, and was welcoming during my short time living here. On the contrary, Rosa the property manager tried to act like she’s friendly. She was unprofessional and inconsiderate to the needs of the... tenant. She made rude and offensive comments to me.

The first appearance of the apartment complex is pretty upon driving up. When I moved in, I noticed things wrong with the apartment. My unit was not clean like the one that was shown to me on tour, which was spotless. The apartment was NOT move in ready. The shower faucet dry wall had a huge hole in the wall and needed to be patched. Cobb webs were dangling from the ceiling throughout the apartment. Also, the floors were filthy with dirt and the A/C filter was horribly coated with dust. The refrigerator ice maker was damaged. Water dripped from the refrigerator and leaked into the kitchen, hallway, and dining room area.

Disgustingly, the apartment was overwhelmingly infested with cockroaches. Due to moisture on the floor and base boards, roaches were crawling all over the kitchen countertop, inside the microwave, and cabinets. I received pest control Catch Master sticky traps for the roaches. This treatment did not resolve the issue.

In addition, I informed the office not to have the maintenance man enter my apartment when I am not present. It was evident that he was in the apartment without prior notice to me.

Ultimately, I decided to break the lease and move out due to the unacceptable conditions and personal reasons. I accepted full responsibility for the early termination fee stated in the lease agreement. I PAID the total amount due within 30 days of moving out. I was FURIOUS to find out later that I was reported to a collections agency and saw the amount on my credit report. After calling Rosa MANY times and sending several emails to reach out to have this corrected, she finally responded. The process was taking weeks and was aggravating. She was QUICK to send my account to collections and delayed communicating with me to have collections remove this from my record.

I would recommend the Lakes at Deerfield! It is close to FAU & the beach, with lots of things to do close by. The staff is friendly and responsive to maintenance requests. The pool, gym, and tennis area are nice and well-kept.

I’ve been living at the Lakes at Deerfield in a 1 bed/ 1 bath with my boyfriend and pup since October 2019. We’ve just re-signed our lease for another year here. Location is perfect, Walmart and Publix are right in front of the complex, it’s right next to I-95 to get to Boca, WPB or Fort Lauderdale fast and deerfield beach is less than 10 minutes away. Rosa, the property manager, has been here since I moved in and has been super helpful anytime I needed anything or had any questions. Maintenance... requests were filled quick and the maintenance person Julio is the best!! There’s a little gym that’s usually pretty quiet and a pool if you feel like laying out. My car was broken into and they won’t put up security cameras or hire security

Stayed here two years while I was in school. Rude staffing. They WILL 100% raise the prices on you ridiculous amounts (higher than the surrounding areas). They will do everything in their power to NOT help you with issues in your apartment and even blame you for damages that you reported to them when moving in to avoid giving you your deposit back. So if you have to stay here, keep meticulous records of your interactions with them because they are snakes.

ALSO...Make sure they show you the... actual apartment you are moving into. They like to "forget" some places don't have certain upgrades and appliances when you tour the models.
